The NSW Commissioner for Children and Young People and Convener of the Child Death Review Team Ms Megan Mitchell has called for greater community vigilance around children and backyard swimming pools with the onset of warmer weather in NSW.

The Child Death Review Team has examined the deaths of 565 children that occurred over the period January to December 2009. The latest figures were revealed today in the Child Death Review Team 2009 Annual Report by the Commissioner for Children and Young People and Convenor of the Team, Ms Megan Mitchell.
New research on sudden unexpected deaths of newborns

New research released today by the NSW Child Death Review Team has found known risk factors in 90% of the sudden unexpected death of an infant (SUDI) that occurred in the neonatal period (the first 28 days after birth).
