Commissioners diary: welcoming the 2012 Expert Advisory Committee

This morning it was my pleasure to meet for the first time the 2012 Expert Advisory Committee. The Committee is established the Commission for Children and Young People Act 1998 and provides the Commission with advice and expertise in areas such as health, education, child protection, child development, disabilities, the law, employment, sport and the arts.

Commissioner talks with Newcastle kids

I consult widely with children and young people across NSW to learn about what's important to kids in their communities. One of my main roles is to listen to children and young people, and to promote their interests and their participation in decisions that affect them. On Wednesday March 20, I visited children at Windale Public School and met professionals at the Eastlake Youth Centre and Ronald McDonald House in Newcastle.
