Joel

Joel is a member of the Young People's Advisory Group. During 2012, Advisory Group members will participate in five weekend meetings, and spend time throughout the year researching and obtaining the views of other children and young people. The Commissioner, Megan Mitchell, will use the advice provided by the Advisory Group to inform the recommendations she makes whilst advocating for the children and young people of NSW.

Some fun fact/s:

  • I love sport and pretty much everything outdoors.
  • I am a venturer scout and love camping.

I’m passionate about:

  • Sport
  • Doing the best I can to help as many people as I can.

I think issues affecting children and young people in my community (or in general) are:

  • The use and abuse of drugs and alcohol.
  • Peer pressure and bullying.
  • A lack of connectedness with adults, with what they think young people want and what young people really want.

 

If I had a magic wand, I would address these issues by:

  • Raising awareness and highlighting the consequences of these issues.
