  • Young people talk to the Commission about the Built Environment
    19 Aug 2008

On Monday 18th August, Commission staff went to the Manly Youth Centre to speak with members of the Manly Youth Council.

We talked about the work the Commission has been doing to develop Child Friendly Community Indicators. These are guidelines and measures that the Commission is developing to help local Councils and other planners make decisions about buildings and public spaces that meet the needs of children and young people.

Manly Youth Council in discussion

Manly Youth Council members discuss how child friendly their local
environments are and how they could be improved.

The Youth Council provided us with feedback on what the indicators are measuring, which will help us make our materials relevant for kids.

There will be several more consultations with other groups around NSW before we finalise the indicators.
