- 212,468 background checks conducted
- 680 estimates of risk undertaken
- 80.43% of preferred applicants assessed as high risk were not employed
- 55 Prohibited Persons applied for a review of their status

- Working With Children Check expanded to meet new legislative and regulatory requirements, including Children Legislation Amendment (Wood Inquiry Recommendations) Act 2009
- Child-safe Child-friendly web pages accessed 19,350 times
- 83 Child-safe Child-friendly presentations delivered, attended by 1,353 people
Plans for the future
- Expand the Working With Children Check as stipulated in the Children Legislation Amendment (Wood Inquiry Recommendations) Act 2009
- Commence verification of Prohibited Employment Declarations
- Develop online applications for the Working With Children Check
- Extend Child-safe program

- Tabled 2008 CDRT annual report

- Table a report on the CDRT's study of neonatal deaths that are sudden and unexpected in New South Wales from 1996 to 2008
- Work with the Ombudsman to transfer the CDRT to the Ombudsman's Office

- Commission's recommendations to improve children's well-being are implemented
- CCYP recommendations to improve children's well-being are agreed

- 14 submissions to inquiries and reviews, including NSW General Purpose Standing Committee No. 2 Inquiry into bullying of children and young people, and Statutory review of the Commission for Children and Young People Act 1998
- Website traffic increased by 33%
- New Working With Children Check website launched
Plans for the future
- Complete advice about inter-agency models for injury prevention for children
- Establish a NSW Advisory Panel on the Middle Years of Childhood and progress commitments contained in the NSW Government's response to the Parliamentary Inquiry into Children and Young People aged 9-14 years
- Publish a report providing information about children in NSW in a single document to provide a ‘Picture' of NSW kids
- Establish a Children, Young People and the Built Environment Advisory Group to promote an understanding of how to support children and young people in the built environment and progress recommendations from the Follow-up Parliamentary Inquiry into Children, Young People and the Built Environment

- Young People's Reference Group (YPRG) met six times and provided advice on more than 16 Commission projects, policies and public inquiries
- Supported the NSW Youth Advisory Council to conduct a forum on youth homelessness. Youth Advisory Council transferred to Communities NSW
- Conducted Youth Week 2010. Recruit the Young People's Advisory Committee for Youth Week. Youth Week transferred to Communities NSW
- Disseminated and promoted a compendium of papers on involving children and young people in research
- The views of children included in submissions, including Commonwealth inquiries into Combining school and work, bullying of children and young people, and the Attorney-General's Department discussion paper Should the Australian National Classification Scheme include an R18+ classification category for computer games?
Plans for the future
- Work with the Housing and Human Services Senior Officers Group to monitor and contribute to the efforts to prevent youth homelessness
- Review and develop the YPRG's role and objectives
